The babies were asleep in their cribs and I was strapped with one of them on my back. Ha! We were getting close to completing, however the project was still a way off. It was going to take lots of time and money and shopping my favorite to furnish this home. In order to keep my budget sound, I travelled with three of my boys to look for bargains in estate sales. Our weekly routine that consisted of spending Friday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales purchasing new and old items. I then spent the remainder of the week painting and sanding on the driveway. The furniture looked like this... which is where I found my love for restoration. Once our home was completed, I was unable to stop! There was an area at the local markets in which I sold my pieces. I eventually had so many pieces I didn't have a clue what to do with them and my storage space was a mess. More than 1000 people came to my home in just one weekend to purchase everything that was on the ground. Growing Days was founded in my own home. While my company grew as did our family. I was finding that balance of what it was like to start a new business while also being a mommy. Growing Days was the obvious decision. Nora came into our lives in 2013 and became our fourth baby. My business was going well however I needed a break. I decided to stop building my old furniture for a while and be at home with the children. It was exactly what I was looking for. After a couple of months, my phone started to begin to. Calls came in asking me for help with interior decor and home renovations. Most of these people were people who had been through my property during furniture open houses! While I was working I added new customers to my client list each day. It wasn't too that long before I was managing multiple clients and ran a successful home remodeling business. Most likely, I would have laughed if someone had told me the venture was going to be the premise of an upcoming television show in the DIY Network. As I reflect at it, it has made me giggle.
